Go to the family owned dealership, so they can screw you like only family can. In the initial round of negotiating the trade-in, the salesman tells me the guy that test drove it noticed a hiccup in the transmission. I should have left after that scare tactic and never looked back. The Thompson way.

This place is absolutely AWFUL. I bought a 2022 Silverado 2500 from them with only 22k miles. First the minor stuff. From the beginning it was bad customer service. I had left a very nice tactical flashlight in the door pocket of my trade in. I asked about it because I had to take the vehicle I bought in for service almost immediately, and the salesman Casey said "yeah, they mentioned that let me go check with the sales manager". A little over 3 weeks ago we purchased a used Buick from Thompson Buick GMC. Our salesperson was Casey Jones. On July 9th, I entered into an agreement with Lee Maynor to trade my 2018 GMC Yukon XL Denali (Purchased from Thompson in January 2018) for a factory order 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL. Lee agreed to accept a GM Supplier certificate in exchange for immediate turnover of my trade-in. The amount agreed to was approximately $3,000 below the Manheim MMR auction report provided as evidence of trade-in value. I agreed and signed a contract. I was interested in a used Town & Country minivan that was at Thompson Buick GMC Cadillac. Francis showed me the vehicle, explained all the features and took me for a test drive. It was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. Francis made sure the vehicle was in perfect condition before I took possession. I was promised by them putting used parts on my wrecked explorer would be lifetime warranty! Turns out not there, the manager was horrible! And he refused to fix the issues that was wrong with it. Four years later!!!
Mike Portillo greeted us, patiently and respectfully heard our needs, picked up on unspoken cues, took excellent care of us, worked within our parameters and we drove away happily in our 2021 Enclave Avenir.
They worked fast and efficient. The use of the electronic signing pad made it fast and easy and allowed for it all to be saved onto the usb drive. Francis was also a real delight to work with. I was out of state but he was able to send me pictures and videos and made it simple to come in test drive and buy the car.

Everyone we came in contact with had great costumer service. As a young buyer (in 20s) I was put off from another dealership by the way I was treated. This is the sixth GMC truck/SUV we have purchased. Three of the six have been purchased at Thompson, and the experience has been great. Interestingly, all the other dealers are no longer in business. This particular purchase was the easiest to date. Francis Johnson was product-knowledgeable, and did a great job. The financing portion went smoothly as well.

Made an appointment to test drive an advertised fully loaded preowned 2018 Buick Encore Essence. Take off work and drive to Raleigh from another city and was told the car “just sold” and they were sorry they don’t hold used cars for test drives. Was never told that by the internet liaison that set the appointment for us to drive in to test drive. Do not even bother walking into this place. Saw a new vehicle advertised on both Cars.com and the dealer’s website for $18700. I also had a GM Earnings of $2000 to apply, making the final price $16700. I was paying cash, not financing. After visiting the dealership and test driving the vehicle, the sales manager said the final price was $22000. This is flat out false advertising. They would not budge on the price. We are looking at legal options since they would rather have customers walk than sell at the advertised price.
I recently purchased a 2008 GMC Canyon from Thompson Buick GMC Cadillac. Andy Curran the salesman and Tim Bus the finance officer were great. They made the usually stressful experience, of auto buying, a smooth enjoyable experience. Was a loyal customer for years even though they sold me a lemon and gouged me on prices. Last straw was when I was shopping for a new car, gave me an incompetent sales person and tried to charge me extra to get the windshield on the preowned I was going to buy! What is that all about?

We had a certified preowned Cadillac ESV. Warranty was supposed to be bumper to bumper warranty until 2014. At first service and work was great and all covered. Once repairs were done to same issue twice, we were told they weren't covered. Thompson Cadillac services the car for a DVD issue and fried the electrical system for the entire car. They refused to accept responsibility or any type of resolve. End result, I sold my vehicle and will never purchase a vehicle that will ever go to Thompson again.
